Pace Outreach

A good pace is consistent and rhythmic, it regulates steady progression. This form of Outreach happens frequently (bi-weekly) so that our presence in the community is consistent, our understanding of the community’s needs are relevant, and our ability to develop relationships increase. Pace Outreaches take place on Saturday’s from 10:45 am until 12:15 pm. Examples of Pace Outreaches are:

Corner Store

Due to a lack of fresh fruits and produce in our community we decided to purchase these goods and sell them for 10 cent on the dollar. We sell the items instead of giving them away because we desire to promote dignity through monetary exchange.

Home and Yard Restoration

There are families in our community who have no glass panes in their windows, leaking pipes in their kitchens and family room, foliage overwhelming their property. They greatly desire change but do not have the means and/or ability to make any improvements. Our church gathers to shovel an elderly woman’s driveway, help a single mother of four cut her grass, or perform minor repairs that make the world of difference. Momentum Outreach

Momentum is strength gained through the development of events. Our Momentum Outreaches target our entire community, harnessing the development of relationships that were built through our Pace Outreaches and other networks of community engagement. Momentums take the effort of our committed body and faithful partners to create a healthy environment for the Lord to bring forth heart change. Examples of Momentum Outreaches are:

Back to School Backpack Celebration

Every school year children in our community return to school without the basic academic essentials, a backpack and school supplies. We unite with our partners to equip Detroit’s brightest with tools that aid their academic success. At this event the parents hear a clear articulation of the gospel and our desire for them to grow in Christ within our church family. The youth play games and have a last hurrah before school starts.

Thanksgiving “Boxes of Love”

To have no or little to no food to eat is a foreign concept to many of our partners, but it is a reality for many in our neighborhood. During Thanksgiving families can enjoy one another and be relieved if only for moment, because we supply a frozen turkey, canned vegetables, cake mix, etc., everything they need to have a full meal. We deliver these boxes to nearly 100 hundred families in our community. They invite us into their homes and we delight in conversation. We have the blessed opportunity to assure them through our words that point them to Christ and our deeds which care for their immediate need that we love them.
