"I was raised in a church-going home, and asked Christ to be my Lord and Savior at a young age in Sunday School. However, I feel like I lived most of my childhood as if I had to earn God's love and favor, constantly feeling like I should be doing more and feeling unsettled.

Only in college, largely through my discipleship relationship through Campus Crusade for Christ, did I come to understand that my relationship with Christ was solely based on what Christ had done and that I could emulate Him as a result of this rest He'd given me, through the power of the Holy Spirit. I grew in my faith tons in college and knew that I wanted to work with people's spiritual and emotional needs upon graduation.

At the same time, my eyes were being opened to the poor and marginalized around me, and I didn't want to ignore it. So I decided to intern with Campus Crusade for Christ for two years in Detroit, allowing me to disciple women and also learn about racial and economic divides that still exist.

Eric and I were married in August 2003, spent our first year of marraige in seminary, and then decided to spend a year in Uganda so we could learn about other cultures, and specifically about the poverty that much of the world faces and how to respond to it as believers. We returned to the States and spent two years serving at a church outside of Cincinnati. While there we moved in faith to plant a church where people we being forgotten. The Lord led us to Detroit to be serve the broken (both spiritually and physically) in the summer of 2007."
